On Solar Learning
What is Solar Learning?
Solar Learning is an educational foundation that aims to bridge the gaps in Philippine education to make it more accessible, more inclusive, and more up-to-date with the 21st century. In particular, Solar Learning utilizes media and technology-based learning solutions to address the gaps in the issues of delivery, content, and access. The foundation offers an alternative learning structure through a virtual academy for learners in Primary School, Junior High School, and Vocational.
What are the objectives of Solar Learning?
With ‘Bridging Gaps, Changing Lives through Educational Technologies’ as Solar Learning’s battle cry, the foundation desires to provide long-term solutions to Filipinos who dream of a better form of living through: 1) distance learning via television and the Internet; 2) helping out-of-school-youth and adults complete Junior High School; and 3) training individuals to acquire skills for better employment.
What are the Solar Learning offerings?
Solar Learning has three offerings:
K-3TV Project
K-3TV Project is a partnership between Solar Learning, DepEd NCR and Thames International to produce DepEd-approved modules for television for Key Stage 1 pupils which include children in Kinder to Grade 3 levels. Video lessons for the Key Stage 1 pupils are aired on the DepEd NCR Prime Channel, initially available on Digital Free-To-Air TV Channel 21 in Metro Manila, with plans for this channel to be replicated in provinces outside Metro Manila.
